Festival programme 2010
Concerts
Each year at Lockenhaus, Gidon Kremer and the musicians he has invited are willing to take on a new challenge, as artists are expected to depart from their usual repertoire. New paths are to be explored; like-minded artists may exchange their ideas making use of this unique freedom for musical experiments at the highest level. Very often, new ensembles are formed for playing a composition, the artists dissolving established groups, playing their music with associates only recently met.
During the rehearsals at the festival, Gidon Kremer will finally determine who is playing which work at which concert, guaranteeing spontaneity and the renowned first-class quality at the same time. In line with this “Lockenhaus peculiarity”, detailed concert programmes will be announced only 48 hours in advance of the individual concerts.
The fans of the festival have always appreciated this characteristic quality and are very much looking forward to the programme created by all artists performing at the festival.
