31st Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival
5 – 11 July 2012
Artistic Director: Nicolas Altstaedt
Cellist Nicolas Altstaedt succeeds Gidon Kremer as Artistic Director
Cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, the roughly 30-year-old, multi-award winning, celebrated soloist performing with outstanding orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and internationally acclaimed chamber musician, has been appointed as the new artistic director, suggested by Gidon Kremer. Nicolas Altstaedt has assumed directorship of the next Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival (5 – 11 July 2012).
Following the Lockenhaus philosophy of “music-making with friends for friends”, Altstaedt will bring a highly acclaimed group of international soloists to Lockenhaus next year. They will also appear as flexible Chamber Orchestra allowing a kind of music-making only possible at Lockenhaus, far away from the commercial world of music. As in the best days of its 30-year-history, Lockenhaus puts the focus on composers who want to reach out to the world through this music festival.
Altstaedt will be a visionary Artistic Director, building on the long tradition of Lockenhaus and leading the Chamber Music Festival to new heights.
End of November, we will publish a list of featured artists.
The Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival Board congratulates Nicolas Altstaedt on his appointment as Artistic Director and invites all friends to a great festival in Lockenhaus next summer!
Ticket sales for the 31st Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival begin on 28 November 2011.
Join us to be part of a new era. We look forward to welcoming you at the festival.
