Cristina Barbuti (Klavier)

Since her youngest years, Cristina Barbuti studied ballet and modern dance along with music. She specialized in chamber music in Prague at the Sandor Vegh INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER MUSIC ACADEMY (1995-96-97) and in Israel at the RUBIN ACADEMY OF MUSIC AND DANCE JERUSALEM at the Hebrew University. She also collaborated with the University of California, LOS ANGELES (UCLA) in the department of Italian culture. She has performed in Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, USA and Israel in various chamber ensembles and in major European festivals such as Heimbach and Lockenhaus. She has collaborated with musicians such as Nicolas Altstaedt, Diego Chenna, Antje Weithaas, Claudio Bohroquez, Gustav Rivinius, Hans Kristian Sorensen, Matthias Würsch, Patrick and Thomas Demenga etc.
Cristina Barbuti recorded for STRADIVARIUS the music of Swiss composer Willy Merz, awarded with four stars by the magazine Le monde de la musique, Paris.


In 2001 she joined Alexander Lonquich to form a piano duo which has performed in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, and Italy and performed as soloist with many orchestras including: Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester and Camerata Salzburg.
During the Festivaletteratura 2007 in Mantua, the duo performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Mantova and the actor Sandro Lombardi a series of three concerts dedicated to the "feeling of childhood" with the title ‘Children of Saturn’.
Cristina Barbuti has always been interested in research on expression not only in its musical sense but also as a way to address the specific training of musicians.
With Alexander Lonquich and actress Vincenza Modica she conducted from 1999 to 2002 musical and theater workshops in institutions such as the piano Academy of Imola, the School of Music in Fiesole, The Campus International Sermoneta etc. More recently she has specialized in art therapy along the lines of Gestalt psychology and currently works in rehabilitation workshops for psychiatric patients at the Center for Mental Health Villa Lais, Rome.
Recently, with Alexander Lonquich, she has founded in Florence a Cultural Association denomonated Kantoratelier, based in a small and open theatrical space , where different subjects (music, theater, psychoanalysis and psychologycal social and clinic issues) can merge together.
She teaches “Espressivity in music” in the program of the Master in “Social Theater”, of the University La Sapienza
